Birchbox Beauty Box Launches in UK

Birchbox-first-UK-box

Beauty Box fans will be pleased to hear that Jolie Box has been acquired by US Birchbox, which launches in the UK today.  As someone who hasn’t subscribed to the concept - or actual boxes - to date, I’m curious to see how this will pan out.  Birchbox say that boxes will be “customised”; if they achieve this, it will be the differentiator that many have been waiting for.

Subscribers will receive a box with 4 or 5 beauty and lifestyle products each month, from a range of brands including Laura Mercier, Kiehl’s, Benefit, Stila and Yves Saint Laurent (I certainly wouldn’t complain about any of those). They then have the option to purchase full-sized versions of the products they love through Birchbox, which I guess is where the really money will be made.

The January box contains:

  • Fresh Rose lip treatment
  • Wild Body Butter (mini)
  • KMS Free Shape hair product (mini)
  • Wei Jujube Age Control Serum (mini)
  • I Coloniali Deep Body Massage Cream (mini)
  • Teapigs Peppermint Tea bag
  • Birchbox magazine

Boxes cost £10 per month, or £12.95 inc P&P.

Would you be happy with the above - and do you like the idea of a box of beauty surprises landing on your doorstep each month, or do you prefer to select your own products?
