When I woke up yesterday morning I suddenly realised that both me and my husband had forgotten our wedding anniversary. Yet again. We’ve been married for 5 years and I honestly don’t think either of us has ever remembered it! Shocking I know…
My lovely sister said she would look after the children so that we could go for a nice lunch and belated celebration…
We ended up having a gorgeous meal at the rather eclectic Made in Belfast restaurant in Cathedral Quarter.
I planned to take an OOTD pic but was in too much of a rush in the end! I wore my French Connection Stork print dress over Zara camel 7/8th skinnies and Rocha by John Rocha too-high-to-walk-in tan leather wedges.
And then we went shopping!
The perfume bit’s coming, honest!
While my husband looked at boy stuff, I skulked off to the make-up counters. I love shopping on Sundays as there are usually less staff around, so I had great fun playing!
Dior & Chanel = double gorgeousness!
I found the perfect combination of Dior Serum de Rouge in Radiant Pink No.560 with a slick of Chanel glossimer in Venus on top! Sadly I didn’t have a spare £45 for this luscious combo so just pretended they were mine for the day!
I made a beeline for the Laura Mercier counter. Sadly they didn’t yet have the new crayon liners in stock, but there was plenty of other loveliness to play with…
I’m smitten with the baked eyeshadow in Black Karat and the beauty advisor showed me how gorgeously this applies when wet. It is breathtakingly beautiful on the skin and lasted immaculately until I removed it. I have the Laura Mercier Black Gold eyeliner which would be gorgeous with this applied lightly, but it would be amazing worn alone as a dramatic liner if applied wet.
And then I spotted the perfume…
I love figgy fragrances and had read about Laura Mercier’s fig perfume, but never smelt it in person. Oh.my.god. This stuff is the perfume of goddesses, princesses and well… beauty bloggers from Belfast.
This is a gentle, sensual, soft ‘skin’ smell. Fresh and clean but without an iota of sharpness. It reminds me a little of the aftermath of baking – comforting hints of vanilla and caramel (but not sickly so – yuck!) – counter balanced with juicy fig, sandlewood and musk. It’s not an in your face smell at all, but it is sexy. Oh so sexy!

It was a tough choice between this and Narciso Rodriguez Eau de Musc, which I will hopefully acquire at a later date! And don’t even start me on the new range of Jo Malone colognes at £80 a pop. *sigh*
I made the right choice. I’ve been spraying this all day and sniffing my wrist non stop. Totally swoonsome…
(So much for my recent post about only having one fragrance! Though in all honesty I so rarely find one that I like that it’s just impossible to resist when I do!)

ps I got the last bottle in my local store. Another lady sprayed it just before me and went upstairs ‘to think about it’ – the sales assistant told me to make a sharp exit before she got back! *evil giggle*
Maybe for my next anniversary I’ll get the full set of body products to match!
