When it comes to looking after our skin, what we put on the inside is as important as the products we apply on the outside. This week I'm taking part in Aveeno's ‘Inside & Oat’ skincare and lifestyle challenge, focusing on a more holistic way of living, including diet, exercise and skincare. I do try to follow these principles normally, but sometimes we all need a little push!
I suffer from dry skin - particularly on my body - and am prone to eczema patches in cold weather. Aveeno is no stranger to me... as longterm readers will know, I first discovered it when nothing else would soothe my baby son's eczema. Eight years later, the products remain a constant in our bathroom, where we all use them regularly. They contain active colloidal oatmeal to gently cleanse and moisturise dry, sensitive and irritated skin.
It doesn't really matter how much we focus on skincare if we don't follow a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise, eating well, drinking plenty of water and getting a good night's sleep. It's easy to let these things slip sometimes, so I look forward to noting the difference it makes when I really make an effort to stick to them and resist putting my feet up while reaching for another chocolate biscuit!
I've committed to follow the #AveenoInsideandOat healthy eating and exercise programme for one week (and hopefully longer!). In addition to using Aveeno skincare products daily on my body, I'll be doing workouts at home and outdoors (fingers crossed for sunshine!) and have stocked my fridge with lots of healthy grub.
