New: GOSH Growth Mascara & Lash Serum Review

GOSH-Growth-Mascara-and-Serum

I’m a big fan of GOSH mascaras, so was excited to try their latest formula in the run up to its launch.  Growth Mascara and Growth Serum both contain active ingredients to lengthen and thicken lashes… I’ve been testing them for a couple of weeks now and these are my thoughts so far…

Growth Serum

Although this duo is designed to work together, the Growth Serum can be used with any brand of mascara, so there’s no need to purchase both.  For a double whammy effect, you can use the Growth Mascara by day and Serum at night.  The serum contains two actives for lengthening and volumising and can also be used to thicken brows.

Last thing at night before bed, I literally take the brush and sweep it along the edge of my upper and lower eyelid, as close to the lashes as I can get without actually touching them as I don’t want to risk getting it in my eye.

This is the cheapest lash serum I’ve come across at £14.99 (I’ve also tried Talika Lipocils and Peptalash). Like Peptalash, it claims to produce results in two weeks, whereas most lash serums take 6-12 weeks to take effect. If you’re impatient like me, it’s great to get a head start with this!

Growth Mascara

The mascara has my favourite kind of rubber wand, which I first discovered with Chanel Inimitable and have loved finding in drugstore formulas since.  From the angle photographed above you can see the longest bristles.  Twisted to one side, the bristles are shorter and the surface flattish, which I find helps me to apply lots of product to the base of lashes for volume, while the longer bristles comb through to the ends, defining and adding length.

This contains the same lengthening active found in the serum - in a higher concentration - presumably because it’s diluted with the actual mascara.

Results

This pic was taken after I had used both of these products daily for two weeks.  I haven’t shown a before pic at this stage because although I can see a difference, I’m not sure that it’s distinct enough for others to notice yet.  The main change for me is an increase in the number of lashes and new baby lashes in the inner and outer corners. I do think there is some overall increase in length too - and will keep you posted on this.

This is two coats of the mascara, which can be built up for a more volumised look.  I’m also wearing the new GOSH Ultimate Eyeliner in Raw Grey (£5.99), which I’m absolutely loving.  I love grey eyeliner for a much softer finish to blue eyes and pale skin than black or brown, but this is the nicest tone of grey I’ve found in a while, is soft to apply with good payoff and really lasts.

GOSH Growth Mascara: £8.49; Growth Serum £14.99, available in Superdrug from 13 March (though I’ve already seen it in my local store).
