Kate Moss Lilabelle Truly Adorable & Kylie Minogue Music Box Perfume

Kate-Moss-Lilabelle Kylie-Minogue-Music-Box

Kate & Kylie.  Rolls off the tongue (kind of).  The Style Icon and Princess of Pop have released dinky bottles of fruity, floral scents, each with a personal sentiment.  Not the kind of fragrance I’d normally go for, but I’m always up for a challenge!

Kate Moss Lilabelle Truly Adorable

Kate-Moss-Lilabelle Truly Adorable

Cute bottle, right?  It reminds me of the kind that sat on my elderly Great Aunt’s dresser. The glass is faceted, obliterated by the bright sun when I took these pics earlier today. You can see it a bit more clearly in the image below.

A flanker to last Summer’s Lilabelle, Truly Adorable is a youthful fruity floral, inspired by the innocence of Kate’s daughter, Lila (love that name).  Initially it smells quite oldy worldy to me - not a million miles from that Great Aunt with her gold Yardley powder compact and co-ordinating fuchsia lipstick.

It “aims to invoke the freshness of flower-filled meadows, and lazy weekends spent in country retreats.”

Fruity florals just aren’t really me (is that odd?), though this quite quickly settles into something much softer and rather wearable.

Top notes are Candy apples, Ivy leaves and redcurrant; the heart features Sweet pea, Lily of the Valley and Hawthorn; while the dry down includes Almond wood, Sandalwood and Cashmere musk.

I have vivid early childhood memories of Sweetpea in our garden, which may be why this note dominates for me.

Lilabelle Truly Adorable is on offer at Boots - £14 for 30ml

Kylie Minogue Music Box

Kylie-Minogue-Music-Box Perfume

Created to celebrate Kylie’s 25 years in the music industry, this is a floral fruity scent with top notes of Mara des Bois, Raspberry and Bergamot and a heart of Orange Blossom, Rose, Freesia.

I found the opening notes a little overpowering, but once this settles on my skin it’s surprisingly well balanced.  I’m left with the dry down of Sandalwood, Amber and White Musk and a lingering whisper of the Orange Blossom; a combination that is much more me.

Inspired by a childhood love of music boxes, Kylie said: “Ever since I was a child, I’ve loved the magic of an old-fashioned music box.  My new fragrance, Music Box, is an elegantly sensuous scent that’s designed to evoke the same sense of surprise and delight.”

While the key shaped lid is a little flimsy, I love the jewel coloured bottle - isn’t it pretty?

EDP 30ml RRP €19.95 - I also found this on special offer for £14 at Boots, where you can also buy 50ml for £24.95.

I do love the vintagey feel of both these bottles and their packaging - and think it fits well with the sentiment behind both.

Would you like to smell like Kylie or Kate?  Do you think they actually wear their own fragrances?
